about me

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and community worker / facilitator, I am motivated by the power our bodies can harness to heal from trauma. I am informed and driven by my background in community work, where I have been exploring movement/dance, transformative justice, and harm reduction for over twenty five years.

I hold a Masters of Social Work with a focus on dance as a tool for social justice and community building. In my time of study I deepened my understanding of trauma’s impact and learned how our bodies are both the site of difficult memories and emotions and the location of innate wisdom and healing.

I have gained my most valued learnings from over a decade of harm reduction work on the street (street work, crisis intervention), in nightlife spaces (party harm reduction, bystander intervention), and in community health settings (safe injection site, overdose prevention). These frontline experiences have taught me the importance of being in presence with others in various states of wellness and struggle. Shifting from community based work to private sessions, I am looking forward to building on the foundations that have been formative to my understanding of transformation and care.

The somatic disciplines I practice through the teachings of others include Contemporary Dance and Somatic Exploration with Kelly Keenan, Yoga and the “living wisdom” of the body with Sally Lee, Fathom High (Feldenkrais) with Meytal Blanaru, various movement-based practices at Studio 303, Asana practice with Xavier Therrien and somatic healing sessions with Violette Najat

I am currently a member of the Montreal Sensitive Pelvic Exam Collective, where I teach second-year medical students the best practices for conducting trauma-informed and trans-inclusive pelvic exams.

I presently live in Tiohtià:ke, the unceded territories of the Kanien’kehá:ka people, also known as Mooniyang/Montréal. I look to the leadership of the Kanien’kehá:ka (as well as other historical and present-day land and water defenders here and around the globe) and I continue to learn, unlearn, support, and take action alongside movements that seek justice and liberation.

As a practitioner of an embodied healing modality, I am invested in decolonization, in my practice - decolonization of land, of people, and of trauma work. As part of this ongoing commitment, I continue to deepen my relationship to my own ancestral (Cornwall Celtic, Franks, Anglo-Saxon) histories of oppression and liberation, and I seek to cultivate embodied ritual practices that honour life and spirit.
